Costa, a new modern Mediterranean eatery with a focus on classic, comfortable flavors and refined service, will open to the public for dinner service on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. The 151-seat restaurant on the second floor of the Esplanade at 150 Worth Avenue is owned by local restauranteur Sascha Bennemann and his wife Danielle. The space features an airy, comfortable, dining room, outdoor seating, contemporary bars, an elegantly appointed private dining space and a carefully curated wine cellar. Clean lines, white finishes and contemporary fine art photography make the space feel modern and fresh. Plans are in place to open for brunch and lunch in the future.
The owners are thrilled to have seasoned Executive Chef David Valencia on board for this new venture. Chef Valencia got his start at the Michelin-rated and James-Beard award winning restaurant, The Modern in Manhattan, and subsequently at Adour Alain Ducasse. In 2011, Valencia joined renowned hospitality group EMM Group to open Catch with Top Chef Winner Hung Huynh in both New York and Florida. After Catch brought him to South Florida, Valencia served as Chef de Cuisine at Meat Market in Palm Beach and, most recently, as Executive Chef at Caviar Russe in Miami.
Costa’s seasonal menu includes items such as Charred Spanish Octopus, Greek and Turkish Mezze platters, Salt Baked Bronzino and Whole Roasted Chicken served in a tagine. The exclusively curated cocktail and wine programs were specifically developed to complement the menu items. “We can’t wait to show the community what we’ve been working on,” said Owner, Sascha Bennemann. “Our passion for food and personalized service will shine through in this truly unique concept unlike anything existing in Palm Beach today.”
